Why the right coffee beans make all the difference
Coffee beans are the heart of your cup of coffee. The quality of the bean determines the aroma, body, balance and flavour profile. But also the freshness, the roast and even how you brew your coffee play a big role.
At Koffie Kenner we only choose top quality specialty coffee beans. Freshly roasted in the Netherlands, from sustainable, traceable sources, and always with an eye for the farmer and the taste. This way you can taste the origin, the variety and the craftsmanship in every cup.
What types of coffee beans are there?
Every coffee bean has its own character. The roasting plays a major role in this, because it determines which flavour notes emerge. We list the most popular roast levels for you:
Lightly roasted coffee beans
Lightly roasted coffee beansare a favorite among lovers of pure, transparent flavor. They retain many of their natural aromas, such as citrus, flowers and berries. Perfect for filter coffee or slow coffee methods such as V60, Chemex or AeroPress.
Medium roast coffee beans
Are you looking for balance?Medium roast coffee beansoffer the best of both worlds. The roast is slightly darker, allowing sweeter notes such as chocolate, nuts and caramel to emerge, but without losing complexity. Suitable for both espresso and filter.
Dark roast coffee beans
Dark roasted coffee beanshave a full, deep flavor with little acidity. You taste roasted nuts, dark chocolate and sometimes a light smokiness. Perfect for espressos, cappuccinos and anyone who loves strong coffee.
The right bean for every brewing method
Not every coffee bean is suitable for every brewing method. For example, you need a different roast for filter coffee than for espresso. Fortunately, at Koffie Kenner we have the knowledge and the assortment to help you choose precisely.
Do you use a Wilfa filter coffee machine? Then choose light to medium roast beans. Do you work with a Lelit espresso machine or Eureka coffee grinder? Then medium to dark roast beans are ideal. And with a hand grinder from Timemore you get the most out of your single origin filter coffee.
Our tip: experiment! You'll be amazed at how much difference in taste you can discover with the right combination of beans, grind setting and brewing method.
